Consumer Segment Marketing Director - EMEA Job Number: 0808243 Description Main function of job Responsibility for the achievement of financial and business objectives relating to targets set in regard to EMEA Consumer Segment Marketing The Consumer Segment Marketing Director will be responsible for developing, delivering, and driving the consumer marketing strategy for Research In Motion's products and services. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct reports include all consumer segment marketing managers located at RIM Europe headquarters and in key offices in Europe. Specific duties/ responsibilities Set objectives and strategy (and corresponding high level plans/ programmes) in support of the strategic business plan. Revise these (particularly those relating to the Carriers) bi-annually. Monitor and manage Consumer Segment marketing organisation performance to ensure objectives are met and report/ correct any deviation to plan. Be responsible for building and managing relationships with key executives within the Indirect (and Carrier and Alliance) Partner organisations and with agencies and other co-operative marketing partners to increase mindshare, market share/ awareness etc. in regard to the complete BlackBerry portfolio for the EMEA Consumer segment. Ensure/ contribute to the successful launch of new products - in conjunction with indirect/ carrier customers - into the EMEA region. Develop close relationships with the RIM senior management team (e.g. sales, operations, finance, technology groups etc.) to ensure that the specific EMEA segment strategies and their implementation are coordinated with their requirements to ensure success across the business. Specifically, ensure alignment between the Segment, Channel, Brand Marketing and PR teams to ensure all groups are targeting the identified high potential consumer segments in each market. Provide input to all business functions regarding winning propositions for Consumer Segments Engaging partners/third parties with RIM's alliance and business development teams as required Direct consumer segment market research and analysis to ensure a deep understanding of consumer needs and behaviours is understood throughout the organisation Drive segment specific competitive response (monitor key competitors, develop competitive response) Drive the implementation of segment specific marketing initiatives, product collateral, selling aids, digital marketing programmes, demonstrations and presentations Communicate to/ gain support from the marketing organisation for key success factors and the initiatives necessary to achieve these on an annual/ quarterly/ monthly/ weekly/ daily basis, as required, to ensure financial and business objectives are met. Grow, manage and lead the specific Segment Marketing team (e.g. conduct performance reviews, compensation management, ensure professional development etc.) Hire and train additional staff as required. Assist with overseeing, implementing and improving upon marketing business processes, including planning cycles, reporting, as required. Experience Industry experience The candidate needs to able to 'hit the ground running' - therefore telecommunication experience is a prerequisite senior level, experienced candidate, preferable to have been a director in a fast-moving organisation Need experience relating to from handset to software to solution provision, Telco and/ or I. T. Carrier experience essential Need to have a clear understanding of the 'eco system' of the business/ industry - representing a range of industry perspectives Pertinent market knowledge and industry contacts highly desirable International experience International experience essential Prefer if candidate has dealt on pan-European/ EMEA basis previously. Need to have worked across more than three EMEA countries Knowledge of EU cultures and cultural sensitivity is paramount - must be demonstrable Sensitivity and experience in dealing with North American business culture desirable Related experience A proven track record paramount - that demonstrates strategic use of marketing tools to achieve financial objectives e.g. programmes that have resulted in increased revenues, growth in market share Require demonstrable team leadership skills at a senior (i.e. director) level - a proven man manager Need experience of managing complex teams in a complex environment Must be able to demonstrate that they have been accountable for business and not simply involved in it Desirable that can demonstrate having made effective decisions, quickly/ under pressure Is a strategist Can demonstrate understanding of the interconnectedness of disciplines Has financial acuity - can handle a P&L, has experience of zero-based budgeting i.e. can formulate and negotiate a budget and achieve it accurately. Qualifications Qualifications / Education Masters degree or senior marketing qualification or equivalent an advantage, MBA preferred. A second or third European language would be an advantage.
